Sea Otters Holding Hands
Seagoing adventures just would not be complete without the wonderful creatures who make the seas their home. When exploring the seashore, it's not always possible to capture the marine life on camera or to even see the marine life as they explore the depths of sea.

Sailing On Canvas
One of my favorite waterfront views to look at is that of a small marina with the sailboats. There just seems to be something quaint about a small town marina with the sailboats docked and waiting for their next adventure.
Second best to the real thing are paintings of waterfront scenes and marinas inviting us to a real life adventure. For many of us though, we can only dream of sailing off the canvas of a painting and into high seas.
One of my blogging friends is a creative person able to capture the fun of a sailing adventure on canvas, or in the case of his most recent painting, "oil on board" as he says. Now at first when I saw his newest work of art, the sailboat "oil on board" I thought perhaps he meant "on board" as one would say referring to on board the deck of the sailboat - lol!
Either way, go sail over to Fred Bell's sailboat painting, and then you'll surely want to sail off canvas into high seas as your imagination carries you off the painting. Nice painting Fred!

Adventures in a Travel Blog
With so many places to travel it's always interesting to read about the experiences of different travelers from various parts of the world. Unless you are one of very few to be privileged with sufficient wealth to travel the world, the Travel Blog is one site I learned about today, which features the traveling adventures of people in a variety of places. Unfortunately since I originally wrote about that site, the link is no longer active.
From seas to mountain slopes or anywhere between, you could find an interesting destination to read about. Taking the time to research a destination can save a person a great deal of time and money, and reading about other people's experiences is a great way to learn about the travel destinations that interest you.
You can read about travel destinations and plan your ultimate dream sailing vacations as you research the things to do while heading for your destination or once you reach it. Off I go for now as I read about another person's travels on the Travel Blog!

Allison Shreeve Champion Wind Surfer
Wind surfing is something I would love to try, but probably not something I would be able to get my husband to want to do with me, so I would have to go on my own, which would not be fun. :-(
Allison Shreeve was born in Sydney and grew up on a farm, but has become a champion wind surfer. Allison first learned how to wind surf while in high school. It's her full-time passion and you can learn more about her by watching this video. Have fun as you catch the breeze with her wind surfing!

Sailing from the Crows Nest
"Ahoy Captain! There's land ahead!" may be something you would hear coming from a crows nest. Now before you think this is for the birds, I'll refresh your memory in case you've forgotten what the platform way up high in the mainmast of a ship is, which served as a lookout tower for the need to look for land or enemy ships.
In the very early days the crows nest was sometimes made from a barrel or a basket. Have you ever wondered where they came up with the name crows nest?
As quoted by Wikipedia regarding the ships crow's nest, you now officially know where the term crows nest originated. Have fun as you go sailing from the crows nest! You might want to take a bungee cord to strap yourself in!

The crow was an essential part of the early sailors' navigation equipment. These land-lubbing fowl were carried on board to help the navigator determine where the closest land lay when the weather prevented sighting the shore visually. In cases of poor visibility, a crow was released and the navigator plotted a course that corresponded with the bird's because it invariably headed straight toward land, "as the crow flies".
The crow's cage was situated high in the main mast where the look-out stood his watch. Often, he shared this lofty perch with a crow or two since the crows' cages were kept there: hence the "crow's nest."

Happy 4th of July
Have a wonderful 4th of July and enjoy your experience of watching fireworks as you are out celebrating the holiday.

Sailing to Myrtle Beach
An email I received about a year ago had just come to mind, but I don't have the photo any longer to share. It was a ship or yacht with a golf course on top and the email message said it was Tiger Woods yacht. I'm not sure if it really was or not, but can you imagine having a golf course on the top deck of your yacht? Yes, fun to imagine, but entirely a different story to buy one.
If you plan to go sailing in a warm place and if you're a golfing nut be sure to catch the waves to head on over to the myrtle beach golf courses. That way you won't need a course on the upper deck of your yacht!
With numerous gorgeous courses to choose from you are sure to find the one that suits your fancy. You could even stay at the Barefoot Resort Yacht Club and run your toes through the sandy beach. Bon Voyage!
