If you like Disney trivia, the inspiration for this blog post came from the writer of The Kid Within, and that's where I was reminded that Peter Pan flew past the second star to the right, and straight on till morning! That route took Peter Pan where the flying ships reached Neverland -- the fictional island dream world in the Peter Pan story!

Peter Pan and the Pirate Captain Hook
If you like pirate stories, most likely you recall the story of Peter Pan and his arch rival and pirate, Captain Hook in the Mermaids Lagoon. Peter Pan cut off Captain Hooks right hook hand and fed it to a crocodile. The crocodile then chased Captain Hook around looking for more, but Captain Hook always knew where the crocodile was because he swallowed a clock and Captain Hook was able to hear the clock ticking inside the crocodile.

Into the Ocean
Music is something I absolutely love and I enjoy quite a variety of music, including classical - especially Victorian chamber music, classic rock, pop, jazz, some country western, salsa, and much more. To combine music while enjoying the water is really a treat to the senses.
Other than the fact that the message behind these lyrics are rather negative, the music video fits right into our Tall Sails Adventure, so enjoy this musical adventure! The song has a good beat to it, and I've had fun watching the video many times. If you would like to follow along with the song "Into the Ocean" by Blue October, here's the words to the chorus:
"I want to swim away, but don't know how. Sometimes it feels just like I'm falling in the ocean. Let the waves up take me down. Let the hurricane set in motion. Let the rain of what I feel right now come down. Let the rain come down." Enjoy listening to "Into the Ocean"!

Pirate Talk
Arr! Today is the official "Talk Like a Pirate Day!" For all you landlubbers who need to brush up on your skills there's many ways to do that.
Talking like a pirate is one thing, but some of you will also want to walk or act like a pirate as well. One step toward talking like a pirate is to learn to recognize pirate sayings or pirate lingo. For the rest of you it may just seem to come natural, and maybe you're like one everyday. That's a scary thought! Argh!

Come About Sailing Maneuver
Here's a quick and easy beginner lesson for the maneuver known as "coming about". This lesson will surely fire up your young sailor at heart as it's an easy one for them to learn. The lesson is only a few minutes in length so it makes for a great mini sailing lesson for the day! Once you get out into the water it will of course take longer than just a few minutes, but you get the drift (pun intended) with what I mean. Enjoy your trip!
Travel Accommodation Tips
It's easy to get excited about going on a trip, but it makes life much easier if we have access to some travel tips like accommodation travel news, to know what to expect when we go somewhere we are not familiar with. Or, to learn about things such as the best airports for shopping!
For kids it's always a new adventure regardless of where you travel, but they're always anxious to get there and can sometimes even be down-right annoying with their typical questions like, "Where are we going? When are we going to get there? How much longer do we have?" lol - you get the drift, and especially if you have kids!
We as adults are generally always concerned about the typical accommodations like the place we're going to stay, how much fuel it might cost to get there, but what about the kids you're traveling with? Some accommodation stories might just help with keeping the kids quiet too!
Regardless of the trip you plan, for sailing or any other adventure, preparation will save you from many headaches by planning ahead and making use of some good travel tips, and accommodation news.

Pirate Theme Party
Kids always have fun with costumes, and pirate costumes have always been a favorite for kids adults of all ages. In addition to pirate costumes that kids adults have fun with, you could host a complete pirate theme party -- Arrr!
To succeed at creating a pirate theme party you'll want to make sure you have plenty of snacks to feed the pirate guests who always seem to have a hungry belly. You'll want to provide them with plenty to pillage to satisfy their hunger, otherwise you will be at risk of mutiny on your pirate ship!
There are many ideas, and things you could use in your pirate themed party. Here's some ideas to get you started:
Talk Like a Pirate Instructions
September 19th is Talk Like a Pirate Day
Pirate's Booty
Probably not what you think it is
Pirates Costumes and Attire
A theme party is not complete without the costumes
Origami Pirate Sailboats
Guests can create and color their own
Pirate Treasure Boxes
For smaller treasures that don't require a full sized trunk
Pirateology

Stranded on an Island
When I was young the show Gilligan's Island was a favorite, and we probably didn't miss an episode. Over the years there have been plenty of other stories featuring cast-aways and people stranded on deserted islands, and it's certainly a popular fantasy among many I'm sure.
Now if one were to fantasize about being stranded on an island, nine out of ten times I'm sure the stranded on an island fantasy is focused on tropical islands. After all, if you were to be stranded on an island you certainly wouldn't want it to be somewhere cold! That is, unless your weird or something, right? No doubt, it would have to be a tropical island!
What if you were stranded on a tropical island, and had little provisions to work with? Suddenly the fun and adventure you may have fantasized about represents a ton of work! That's probably not what your fantasy envisioned you would be doing! You would be faced with constructing a hut, and then be at risk of losing it all to a hurricane or tropical storm, and reconstructing the hut all over again!
If you feel you may need to prepare to be stranded on a tropical island, you would need to at least learn some tips with what to do. Being trapped on an island may sound fun at first, and although the coconut diet would be very healthy that too would quickly become boring!
I think the best way one could prepare themselves for being stranded on a tropical island would be to realize that once you're there your new fantasy would be all about NOT being stranded on a tropical island, and instead it would be about staying in a place such as a luxury hotel on an island!
That would of course require accessing something such as Asia hotel news, but then again that would only be a fantasy if you were stranded on a tropical island! Suddenly being stranded on a tropical island doesn't sound like such a good fantasy after all!

Pirates of the Caribbean Bloopers
Pirates of the Caribbean is a favorite among many. Have you watched the Pirates of the Caribbean bloopers? If the movie itself wasn't enough, then you'll have to be sure to watch this video to catch the bloopers.
Everyone needs a good laugh now and then, and if you like to laugh, bloopers from Pirates of the Caribbean should help you get started. Arrgh!

Rough Seas Spray
Spray painting that is! At first I didn't think this rough seas painting was looking like it was going to turn out all that interesting, but then when you get to the end it's pleasantly surprising!
Rough seas painting #34 as it said, is interesting and really turned out much nicer than I expected it would. The final touches the artist adds is what really makes it, so be sure to watch it to the end.
Gone are the days when art is limited to the boundaries of the traditional art mediums. Spray paints, stencils and computer animation art has moved in!
Update: The video originally posted here is no longer available, nor could I locate a suitable replacement. :-(

Pirates Treasure Cache
A treasure cache may seem to be a new idea, but if pirates of old lived today they would be the first to remind us that they were the masters of treasure caches, and vast ones at that!
Imagine the thrill of going on a treasure hunt and discovering a cache of treasure long lost at sea. Old trunks and chests filled with gems and golden coins, would await you to uncover their mystery!
That is of course the lure and mystery of a treasure hunt. Treasure hunts bring out the kid in all of us, and would certainly compel one to seek the treasure if given a map and clues to locate the cache.
Arrr....What are you waiting for? It's time to go on a fun treasure hunt! Just be sure to share your new-found treasures!

Tides and a Lunar Eclipse
August 28th, 2007 I began to wonder about the effect a lunar eclipse may have on the tides, so I did some research. With my research, I learned we will have a solar eclipse on September 11, 2007 only weeks after we had the lunar eclipse! Although that's not a lunar eclipse, it's still interesting information, but not what I was wondering.
Continuing my research I learned that a lunar eclipse has no affect on the tides. The tides are only affected by the Moon's gravitational pull, and slightly affected by the Sun. Call me silly for not realizing that before, but as they say we learn something every day!
